ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Bringing over 17 years of professional tax experience, with the majority of those coming from commercial in-house tax roles, Cliff understands what a tax function needs – and does not need – in order to add value to an organisation and manage its tax risks and obligations effectively.
Having started his career in public practice at a Big 4 firm, Cliff spent many years advising clients on their corporate, international and mergers and acquisitions related tax matters prior to moving in-house. Since then, Cliff has spent the last 12 years establishing his career as a senior in-house tax specialist, building governance to manage tax risks, streamlining tax processes to drive operational efficiency, and creating best-in-class tax functions at leading financial institutions in Australia. Prior to founding pragmaTax, Cliff was the Group Head of Tax for one of Australia’s original and most successful fintech companies, leading the group tax function and managing the tax governance and strategy of the ASX-listed diversified financial services business across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
Cliff prides himself on his ability to translate and resolve complex tax issues in a way that is clear, concise and pragmatic – whether that be in sharing tax knowledge through training or communicating and delivering tax strategy at the board or executive level.
Raised and educated in Sydney, Cliff holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) with Distinction from the University of New South Wales. Cliff is passionate about life, his family and keeping fit, and when not spending time at home in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, he enjoys travelling with his family and visiting beautiful places in Australia and around the world.
